The Nazi Flags Marching

To get to realistic eventualities of a parallel reality of what would have happened if an autocratic/ dictatorial/ hyper-nationalist powers i.e. the axis alliance had won the war over the then liberal/ colonial/ democratic powers i.e. the allied powers. We must remember, this was not ‘the great war’ that had been celebrated or gained the support of the people and by the people. This war was a strategic annihilation of then victor’s pride and their blindness towards bigger issues i.e. hatred & vengeance.

Germany that had suffered badly in WW1 was in a dismantling state, the powers that won in WW1 happily blame the war and destruction on the people that didn’t even have the privilege to decide whether they want to go on war or not. The systematic dismantling of the German economy left thousands unemployed and the resentment in the people grew day-by-day. The war-debt on the new puppet government of Germany left people to resent the powers which led to the uprising of the ‘German Pride’. The rise of Hitler was not a coincidence the rise of Mussolini was not a coincidence. If history had taught us anything from the misadventures of Nazism and the fascism, we must understand hatred and vengeance never gain momentum in the long run.

Now, to create a parallel scenario of today’s world where the axis power had won the war we must focus on the scenarios which led to the demise of ‘the great Nazi empire’!

June 1941: On August 1939 Germany and Soviet Union signed a non-aggression pact, this treaty envisions a neutral nature on borders of two behemoth nations, it was the commitment that declared neither government would ally itself to or aid an enemy of the other. Soon after the agreement Poland was divided between Germany and the Soviet Union. The same thing reciprocated in the east, on the borders of the Soviet Union and Japanese occupied China(Manchuria), a soviet-Japanese ceasefire came into effect. On June 1941 Hitler commanded its forces to march on Soviet Union & hence operation Barbarossa came into being, which led to an 800 days siege of Stalingrad.

In our alternate scenario, Nazi Germany respected the treaty signed with the soviet and thus ending the eventuality of a two-front war scenario with the Soviet Union. The eastern border of Nazi-occupied territory would have been neutral as nor the Soviet Union or Germany will engage in war, the same thing would have been reciprocated with the Japanese to the east of the Soviet’s.

Dec 1941: On 7th Dec 1941, the Japanese attacked the US naval base (Perl Harbor) situated on an island, Hawaii. The embargo to Japan on importing oil and steel was the main reason for the Japanese to attack American territory, but it should also be pointed out that 76% of the US population demanded neutrality in the war. A wise decision for a Nazi Germany should have been a neutral United States because the US support of the Allied nations would mean a greater chance for them to win the war due to the abundant resources of the US militarily, economically & politically.

In our alternate scenario, Nazi Germany would have signed a treaty similar to that of soviet’s that would have made a positive effect on the US population who were already against the war and the Nazi party would have created a stronger foothold on the politics of free America. There is evidence of some part of the population in the US was a huge sympathizer of the Nazi cause.

In Europe, the annexation of most of the western & eastern Europe by the axis powers would have already created a superior stand for Hitler’s Germany and with the Soviet Union and the USA out of sight Axis power can now concentrate on Great Britain or the UK. It is not hidden, the discovery of Alan Turing’s machine which decoded German’s enigma code led to a step-by-step demise of Germany, but in our scenario, the machine would have never been created as most of the allied powers are figuring out whether to go on a war with the axis powers or not. The Treaty sighed with the US & Soviet had made it easier for the axis power to attack Britain more effectively & promptly. Britain’s control over its colonies like India, African Nations, Alexandria (Egypt) and many more will decline sharply as the axis powers will try to woo them with freedom from 100’s of years of oppression & slavery( Although Nazi thoughts are somewhat opposite to that).

The growing power of the Axis and the demise of allied nations will only mean one thing for Hitler, Victory!

After the War…

Hitler Had Won, The War is Over!

Now its clear, Axis Powers have won the war & the totalitarian, fascist, Dictatorial & alt-right parties are here to stay. The tripartite agreement between Germany, Italy & Japan will lead to power/ territorial gains distribution, keeping in mind the treaty signed by Germany with the US & the Soviet, a major piece of profit would have been shared with them, as the vested interest of both powers would have been the major part of the negotiations when the war ended.

In the USA we would see a sudden rise of Nazi/ Fascist ideologies and the alt-right parties will gain a certain amount of momentum in their internal politics. The Germans will be well aware of it because of the pact signed between them was on the basis that the US population was not ready for another war. Seeing the social crack in the society of the US, Germans will then conspire with the soviets to highjack internal politics of the free United States. The rise of Nazism /fascism/ Confederacy in the US will be a reality which can no longer be denied as the military/ economic/ political power of the Axis will grow day-by-day. The return of slavery might become a reality in the US because of the whole debate of ‘worthy’ and ‘non-worthy’, which comes with the basic ideology of Nazism/ Fascism.

In Asia, Japan remained the one true victor as it occupied half of China seeing the civil war happening between the warlords of China. The Japanese empire might stretch to today’s Myanmar to its west and Indonesia to its south. Lakhs of people under the control of the Japanese regime will suffer greatly as the population under its control will see them being exploited for labour, physical relations & many more.

The world under the umbrella of hatred & fact-denying populism will see a rise of the individualism which totally negates the present values that we represent as a society. This individualism will be on the realm of powers which will dictate the fate of a common person, which according to their values means nothing. The uncertainties of this world will range from individual nations living inside bubbles of restriction & autocracy. The dictatorial powers of some will define what we will wear, eat, drive, listen, watch, work etc. The innovations what we take for granted will no longer exist, the freedom that we take for granted will no longer exist. A bubble of self-containment will create a society with excludes the idea of homogenization but will include the values of hatred towards different communities. The normalization of hatred will be a day-to-day phenomenon.

To conclude, I would like to present a question that Ludwig Wittgenstein asked in his book Tractatus Logico Philosophicus.

“How two human beings manage to communicate ideas to one another?

He answered, Language works by triggering within as pictures of how things are in the world.”

The word fascism translates to “fascio” means a ‘bundle’. A simple story regarding power in unification is as simple as it stands, you can easily break a single stick into pieces, but you can never break the bundle! Doesn’t it have a basic essence of survival stigma attached to it, which we already have in our instincts! Ludwig’s philosophy or knowledge about people’s understanding of things truly explains a phenomenon of how one thing can mean two & two, four. An ancient symbolic word demonized just because someone propagated its ideology using it.

The world will be a different place if Hitler had won the war and writing about it truly made me understand the meaning of choice & freedom. There is no perfect ending for this imaginary world thus no future, an uncertain ending is what well suited for this alternate future, so would have been the results…
